A place where thoughtful people slow down, listen deeply, and explore the questions that don’t always have room in everyday conversation.

Human Room Experience

When you step into the Human Room, you enter a space designed for honesty, curiosity, and real conversation. There’s no pressure to impress anyone or have the right answers. Instead, you have the opportunity to speak truthfully about the life you’re living and listen to others with openness and respect. Many people arrive carrying quiet questions or thoughts they haven’t had space to express. They leave feeling lighter, more connected, and reminded that they’re not alone in what they carry.

I’m so glad you’re here!

Hi! My name is Lauren Barrett, and I’m the creator of human room.

I’ve long been drawn to the kinds of conversations that rarely happen in everyday life… the ones that begin when people slow down enough to speak honestly about the lives they’re living.

I’m also a certified professional emotional intelligence coach and community healing advocate, and much of my work centers on creating spaces where people can speak truthfully and experience the relief of being heard without judgment or expectation.

The idea for human room was inspired by an experience during a talk circle at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. I sat with a stranger and we shared difficult truths about our lives, simply witnessing each other without trying to fix anything. That moment revealed something powerful to me: sometimes what people need most is a space to speak honestly and be heard.

I believe you don’t have to burn your life down to tell the truth about it. Sometimes simply saying something out loud, and having it received with curiosity and respect, is enough to change how it feels to carry it.

Through human room gatherings and the podcast Sitting With Strangers, I create intentional spaces where thoughtful people can explore deeper questions about life, identity, and connection and often leave feeling a little lighter than when they arrived!
